Sitrep around the World [page 2]

Member Captain Marc Walsh not only reads his copy of "Sitrep" while serving with the 2 Field Ambulance in Mareru, Rwanda. He got his bar bill as well. As far as Jack Oldham (Sitrep editor) is concerned, being in central Africa at the equator, at an elevation of 7,600 ft, is no excuse for not knowing what is happening at 426 University Avenue. And reading Sitrep is the next best thing to being there. Marc Walsh of the Queen's York Rangers, was serving over 14,000km from home as the Public Affairs Officer for Operation Passage, a Canadian Forces Humanitarian and Assistance Mission. Dubbed "The Lourdes of Rwanda" by the United Nations Humanitarian Committee of Refugees, no one was turned away from the hospital that was open seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day. During the two-month period of operation over 23,000 patients were seen. The 2 Field Ambulance returned to Canada, mission accomplished, between 17 and 20 October.
